22/24 February 2008 – Padua: Italian National Congress

In collaboration with Comunion of Padova and the Bonsai Euganean Association.
From the 22nd to the 24th February 2008 in the museum halls of Padova’s Pedrocchi building, it will be held the Italian congress of NBSKE.
The honour guest of the event will be Imai Chiharu who is one of the youngest members of the Mother House and a well known Master in Japan.
Imai is specialized in refining bonsais in order to prepare them for the display in exhibitions. He has been teaching in Benicarlò, Spain, for two years.
The Master will hold a seminar on Saturday the 23rd of February. The seminar is for those who want to refine their own plant as well as for those who would like to start a new project. On Sunday the 24th of February will held a practical demonstration.
On Saturday it will be possible to attend to the NBSKE’s members exhibitions and on Sunday morning Prof. Aldo Tollini (Professor of classical Japanese language at the ‘Studies on Eastern Asia’ Faculty at the “Ca’ Foscari” University of Venice) will talk about aesthetics in the traditional Japanese poetry.
On the same day it will be possible to visit an exhibition which will display the best bonsais of the Italian members.
On Monday the 25th of February the Master will held a lesson-demonstration about how to refine a bonsai to be displayed in an exhibition.

IMAI CHIHARU
was born on 5 April 1962
After graduating he entered the SEIKO-EN school where he got a diploma after 6 years.
In 1991 he opened the CHIHARU-EN (Chiharu garden). (his name Chiharu means “one thousand springs”)
He got the president award by the National Agency for Environment on the 23rd Bonsaists exhibition (Sakkaten)
He received numerous awards to various bonsaists exhibitions.
Last year he opened a bonsai school in Benicarlò, in Spain.

He is one of Nippon Bonsai Sakka Kyookai Teachers
